University of the Nations Caribbean

University of the Nations Caribbean

The University of the Nations (U of N) exists for the completion of the Great Commission of Jesus Christ, training students around the world to disciple nations through the arts, Christian ministries, communication, counseling and health care, education, humanities and international studies, and science and technology.

Each year over 10,000 students participate in courses offered at over 250 U of N centers around the world. Courses are modular, 12 weeks in duration, so a student focuses on one subject area intensely for that time, living in a campus environment together with students and staff committed to global evangelization, and then traveling with classmates on an 8-12 week field practicum as the second half of the training program. Students fulfill degree requirements through courses all over the globe, so a two-year Associates degree could include visits to three or more continents!

The entry-level program required for further study with the University of the Nations is the five-month www.uofn.edu Discipleship Training School (DTS). The DTS is currently offered at nine locations around the Caribbean DTS Caribbean, plus some 170 other locations worldwide. To see post-DTS course offerings globally, see www.uofn.edu.

Our current Caribbean courses, beyond the DTS, are listed below. Dates include the international field practicum:

Degree Information : The University of the Nations offers degrees in seven colleges or faculties: the Arts, Christian Ministries, Communication, Counseling and Health Care, Education, Humanities and International Studies, and Science and Technology. All courses are modular and are created in such a way that one week of lecture phase or field practicum equals one credit.

The following is an example of what a two-year degree such as the Associate of Arts in Christian Ministries might include (only Caribbean locations are listed, although the same courses are offered outside the Caribbean):

The Discipleship Training School lecture phase (12 credits) plus field practicum (another 8-12 credits), plus a combination of the following courses to total a minimum of 96 credits:

Foundations in Community Development lecture phase and field practicum: 24 credits (offered in the DR and Jamaica with outreaches locally or internationally)

School of Performing Arts lecture phase and field practicum: 24 credits (Barbados or Jamaica or Dominican Republic with outreaches locally or internationally)

Principles in Child and Youth Ministries lecture phase and field practicum: 24 credits (Puerto Rico or Trinidad with outreaches locally or internationally)

School of the Bible: 44 credits (Montego Bay, Jamaica)

School of Biblical Studies Core Course: 12 credits (St. Philips, Barbados)

UofN Acreditation:  UofN International offers courses and field assignments in over 90 nations worldwide which may be used toward UofN degrees. It is possible to gain credits for a degree with UofN International by completing courses in UofN Caribbean. Various accredited institutions throughout the world accept UofN transfer students and credits. UofN is a degree-granting institution (associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees), but has not applied for accreditation in any nation’s educational system. UofN International recognizes the value of accrediting agencies in maintaining predictability in quality of education. Therefore, UofN may apply for accreditation in the future. However, at this time, we are not in the process of doing so.

We have developed Regional Records Offices, which maintain school and student records and disseminate information for the UofN worldwide. The UofN is committed to quality education. As a result, our students are often accepted as transfer students, and they are given transfer credit for those UofN courses which are comparable to the programmes of the receiving institution.
